Much like everything else at BOOZHE, this salt is haute - as in high altitude haute! Imported in small batches from the Maras salt flats - located high in the Peruvian Andes in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. GNOSCH's unique flavour comes from the combination of trace minerals present in the salt spring (to which many health benefits are attributed to) from which it is obtained. The salt is harvested just like it has been for the past several centuries - through solar evaporation using salt ponds that pre-date the Inca civilization. No modern technology is used to harvest the pink salt of Maras, and so it's claimed to have a much smaller environmental impact than that of heavily extracted Himalayansalts. Its superior flavour, appropriate moisture content, and just-right grain size yield an ideal finishing salt.
